Gloria M. Bleskan

Born August 10, 1927 in El Paso, Texas and passed peacefully on October 9, 2016 from COPD and congestive heart failure. She is survived by her two daughters Carol (married to Ted Randolph) and Debra (married to Wayne Comeaux), one granddaughter (Gina), and two great-grandchildren (Connor and Camille). She was a first-generation American on her father's side (Antonio Giacomazza from Sicily) and a second-generation American on her mother's side (Theresa Rose LuPresto).

She grew up in Chicago during the Great Depression and often recalled the difficult winters there. In 1946 she married George Bleskan, who recently returned from serving in the Army in the Pacific. She was a devoted daughter and mother, who worked tirelessly for her children and for her extended family, who all migrated to Tucson from Chicago and Brooklyn in the late 1950s. She was an executive with Bankers Life and Casualty Co. and managed various regional offices starting in the 1960s. For many years she was one of only a few women and the only female executive with Bankers Life. She was an avid Democrat with a keen interest in politics.

She loved to garden and to play Bingo, slots, poker, and Blackjack. She was a devoted Roman Catholic, who was a member of the Blue Army for many years. She was loved by friends and caregivers at Enlivant Foothills Place and Sierra Del Sol, both assisted-living facilities. They loved her passion and gioia di vivere. Goodbye, Mom/Glor. The family thanks TMC and Peppi's House TMC Hospice for their excellent care of Gloria during her last days.
