LELAND F. BARKER
passed away peacefully at home in Tucson, Arizona on September 7, 2016, with family by his side. Leland was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. After his service in the US Army in World War II, Lee graduated from the New York-Phoenix School in Commercial Art and married the late Doris Barker (Perrich) in 1949. They later moved to New Jersey and eventually to Tucson in 1982. Leland is survived by his son, James, his wife Deirdre, and their three children, three grandchildren, and great grandchild; son, Glen, and his two children; and sister, Jane Cairns and family. He worked as a commercial artist and art director for a publishing company on Madison Avenue in New York City and after moving to Tucson retired from the University of Arizona. Leland loved to paint and he created many beautiful watercolors and birthday cards for his family. His family thanks the many friends and caregivers at Atria Campana Del Rio where he resided for 10 years and the caring help of the nurses and caregivers of TMC Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. in the Memorial Garden at Christ Presbyterian Church, on September 11, 2016.
