Martha Kate Mosley Layne of Tucson, went home to her family after 95 years of life, Sunday May 7, 2017. Born Dec. 30, 1921 in Sequatchie County Tennessee, town of Daus, to Crayton and Mary Mosley . She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Thomas Henry (Tom) and Robert Terrell and husband Brents (Bert) Burton Layne, Jr.

Martha Kate Mosley Layne of Tucson, went home to her family after 95 years of life, Sunday May 7, 2017. Born Dec. 30, 1921 in Sequatchie County Tennessee, town of Daus, to Crayton and Mary Mosley . She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Thomas Henry (Tom) and Robert Terrell and husband Brents (Bert) Burton Layne, Jr.
Martha Kate is survived by her Son Lynn (Judi) Layne, Daughter Nancy (Ashton) Barnette, from Tucson,Two nieces and one nephew, Sharon Smith , T.J. Davis, and Steve Mosley. Grandson Adam (Jackie) Layne and Andrew Layne. Great-grand children, Kennedy, Avery and Jake Layne from Riverside California.
Grandma Martha also had 3 Grandchildren, Ashlee, Ashton, Jr. and Carol and great-grand baby Khloe.
Martha also loved her sweet angels who were mostly by her side the last 2-5 years, at the Ocotillo House, The Angulo family being her extented family who loved her deeply and treated her so special the last few years of life. Her happiest moments were always when she was active with her family and friends.
She graduated from David Lipscomb College in 1941. Her first job, was a school teacher, before her job at TVA as a Draftsman. She married Bert Layne in 1947 and started Bert Layne Jewelers in Red Bank, Tennessee. In 1965 the moved their family and business to Tucson , Az. in hopes to improve Bert's health . She stayed active in the business until 2012. Worked 7 days a week most of her life then spent Sundays with the Lord. She was a longtime member of Palo Verde Church of Christ. Her faith guided her life every day.
In her spare time she loved bible studies, painting with water colors, memory books, walking and working in her yard. Martha was always a positive person, with a smile for all she met.
Her Faith and family were what she lived for, we will miss her so much , but know she is finally home.

All services are at East Lawn Palms Mortuary and Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21 from 4 to 6 PM. Funeral services will follow on Monday, May 22 at 8:15 AM with committal and reception to follow.
