Richard Arlen Horney died peacefully in Denver, CO on December 28th, 2017 at the age of 86.
Richard was born on August 11th, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to Paris Horney and Opal McAttee, along with siblings, Geraldine, Ruth Ann and Larry. After their mother's early death, they were placed in a children's guardian home. Richard enlisted into the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and served in the Korean War. After leaving the service, Richard trained as a Dental Technician, a career that would eventually span over 60 years. Richard married Christel Schmid in 1960...

Richard was born on August 11th, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to Paris Horney and Opal McAttee, along with siblings, Geraldine, Ruth Ann and Larry. After their mother's early death, they were placed in a children's guardian home. Richard enlisted into the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and served in the Korean War. After leaving the service, Richard trained as a Dental Technician, a career that would eventually span over 60 years. Richard married Christel Schmid in 1960 and had two children, Michaela and Richard. He married Jeanne Defauw Mabe in 1980 and moved to Tucson, AZ, where they started a new dental lab and had a son, Clayton. In addition to the artistic work within his career, Richard was a talented artist and enjoyed creating works in pastels, charcoal and oil. Richard took pleasure in maintaining a vegetable garden every year and was an excellent cook. Richard was a spiritual, genuine, humble and honest man who was always willing to help those in need.
Richard survived by his wife, Jeanne Horney, and children Michaela Reeves, Richard Hornay, Kent Mabe, Clayton Horney and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for January 20th at 1:00pm at The East Lawn Cemetery Chapel, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Tucson Botanical Gardens. Pastor Rick Von Albrecht of Christ Community Church will officiate the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Richard's life.

A Celebration of Life will also be held in Indianapolis, IN on March 17th, 2018, at a location to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in his Richard's honor to Stripes to Bars 501(c)(3) or any Veteran focused not for profit.
